Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia on June 18 launches the new Golf R in Kuala Lumpur at a recommended retail price of RM337,790.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia said Malaysia is the only country outside Germany to locally assemble the Golf R, at its plant in Pekan.

The company said the model has a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine producing up to 333PS, a 7-speed DSG transmission, 420 Nm of torque and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds.

It said the car includes a 12.9-inch infotainment system, 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, IQ.DRIVE driver assistance features, 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels and an Akrapovič titanium quad exhaust.

Volkswagen said the recommended retail price rises to RM355,990 with the Volkswagen Assurance Package, which includes five years of maintenance, warranty and roadside assistance.
