McDonald’s Malaysia announced on August 6, 2026, an RM1 billion five-year investment plan to expand restaurants, create jobs, and enhance youth employability across the country.
The quick-service restaurant operator plans to open 100 new locations over five years to complement its current fleet of over 370 restaurants. The expansion aims to create over 10,000 new local jobs.
The investment includes expanding the McDonald’s Vocational Academy under the National Dual Training System, expanding solar panel installations from over 100 to 200 restaurants by late 2026, and updating digital technologies.
The company reported a 26% year-on-year growth in 2025 and currently employs over 16,000 Malaysian staff members across its network.
