Apple TV Film Being Heumann Opens Toronto International Film Festival

Apple Original Films’ feature “Being Heumann” held its world premiere as the opening night film at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, September 11.

Directed by Siân Heder, the film stars Ruth Madeley as disability rights activist Judy Heumann alongside Mark Ruffalo.

The plot depicts the 1977 occupation of a federal government building by disabled activists demanding legislative action.

“Being Heumann” is scheduled for release in select theatres on November 6, 2026, before streaming globally on Apple TV on November 13, 2026.

The feature was co-written by Heder and Rebekah Taussig, based on true events.

Producers include David Permut, Kevin J. Walsh, John W. Beach, and Kevin Cleary.
