Sony Electronics introduced the FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS in Malaysia on 13 May 2026 for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras, targeting wildlife, birding, sports, and photojournalism use.
Sony Electronics said the lens joined its G Master series for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras. It covered a 100-400 mm focal range with a constant F4.5 aperture. Sony said autofocus was up to approximately 3x faster than the FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS.
Sony said the lens weighed approximately 65 oz. or 1,840 g. It used an internal zoom structure and an inner-zoom design. Sony said the design maintained constant length and stable centre of gravity.
Sony said the optical design included ED XA, XA, two Super ED, and three ED glass elements. It said Nano AR Coating II reduced ghosting and flare. It said the 11-blade circular aperture produced G Master bokeh.
Sony said four XD Linear Motors, a floating focus mechanism, and AF algorithms delivered autofocus speeds up to 3x faster. It said subject tracking improved by approximately 50%. Sony said the lens was compatible with Alpha 9 III continuous shooting up to 120 fps with AF/AE tracking.
Sony said the lens supported optional teleconverters for focal lengths up to 800 mm, or 1,200 mm in APS-C mode. It said built-in stabilisation supported Active Mode. It said the lens also supported breathing compensation on compatible bodies.
Sony said the lens had four focus hold buttons and a dedicated function ring. It said the lens had a dust and moisture-resistant design with a fluorine front-element coating. Sony said the lens would be available from May 2026 at an SRP of RM17,999.
